Eli Roth and Selena Gomez will star in earthquake thriller Aftershock.

The low-budget project, which Hostel director Roth co-wrote with Nicolas Lopez and Guillermo Amoedo, centres on a devastating natural disaster that hits Chile. The quake strikes an island that houses an insane asylum, causing the inmates to break free.

The movie will follow on from The Last Exorcism and be released under the 'Eli Roth Presents' banner.

Lopez will direct Aftershock with Roth in the lead role, and his past collaborators Ariel Levy, Nicolas Martinez and Lorenza Izzo among the supporting cast. Music star Gomez, who starred in the recent Monte Carlo, signed up for a cameo role after visiting Chile for a concert.

Roth told Deadline that he has been a fan of Lopez's films since his 2004 debut Promedio Rojo.

"This collaboration marks the beginning of what we call Chilewood, making genre films for the global market using all the resources Chile has to offer," Roth said.

"We are making a smart elevated disaster genre movie with superb production value, something really big. The film's going to be very scary, very intense, and very real." The Weinstein Company and Relativity Media are reportedly in talks with Aftershock's producers about securing distribution in the US.

Selena Gomez has a true fan in yet another celebrity--namely her friend and soon-to-be co-star Vanessa Hudgens. The girls will work together on the upcoming film Spring Breakers, and Vanessa is thrilled to be working with Selena.

According to a report from Hollywood Life, working with Selena is one of the high points for Vanessa of doing the film.

"I adore Selena and I am just so excited to work with her on Spring Breakers," Vanessa says. "We both have been so busy lately that working together on this film will give us time to catch up and just have fun. It will be more like fun than work."

It must be incredibly exciting for Selena to realize that one of her peers is a fan of her work and can't wait to work with her. That's one of the most meaningful compliments any artist—actor, musician, writer—can receive. Being lauded by one's peers is indeed an honor.

Spring Breakers will be a far cry from the kind of work Selena Gomez is accustomed to doing. A far cry from the wholesome roles she played for the Disney Channel--like Alex Russo I Love Vanessa Hudgensin Wizards of Waverly Place, this film will find Selena partying and behaving way outside of her actual character.

Given this kind of enormous change, it will no doubt be comforting for Selena to have Vanessa Hudgens on set with her. The friendship and respect the two girls share will provide each of them with that extra boost of confidence so often needed in the acting world.

Selena Gomez incited panic when she posted a photo and caption on Twitter that some assumed to mean that she and Justin Bieber had broken up. The "Love You Like A Love Song" singer, however, has revealed that she and Bieber are still together.

"Love me not," Gomez posted cryptically on Twitter yesterday. The words accompanied a photo of a pink daisy with all its petals picked off.

Gomez's message on the micro-blogging site lead Gather.com to post the headline, "Did Justin Bieber and Selena Gomez split?" Several of her Twitter followers reacted too.

Soon, Gomez deleted the caption and wrote, "Whoa.. I was just picking some flowers with this chick. Smile everyone." She posted another photo of a friend in front of a lush flower arrangement.

Gomez and Bieber have been together a little over a year. The "Wizards of Waverly Place" star recently told Cosmopolitan magazine how happy she is in the relationship, comparing it to her last.

"I was in a relationship previously where I had to hide everything and it wasn’t my choice. I had to go through different exits and take separate cars and do the craziest things, and it just really wasn’t worth it. It was like a year of my life completely wasted," she said. "I'm just like every 19-year-old girl. If you're in love, you're in love to the fullest, and you just want to go to the movies, hang out, and be as normal as possible. I'm fortunate that I've found someone who has that philosophy."

Justin Bieber has rented out movie theaters and even the Los Angeles Staples Center to demonstrate his affection for girlfriend Selena Gomez, but 19-year-old Gomez insists her man isn't always as showy when it comes to their romance.

In fact, she tells Cosmopolitan's March issue that the couple strive to maintain a low-key relationship.

"I'm just like every 19-year-old girl. If you're in love, you're in love to the fullest, and you just want to go to the movies, hang out, and be as normal as possible," she told the magazine. "I'm fortunate that I've found someone who has that philosophy."

The Canadian pop star, 17, will soon celebrate his one year anniversary with Gomez, but that doesn't mean their relationship is on the fast-track to marriage just yet.

"If the time is right, I definitely want to be married by 25," Bieber told Women's Wear Daily in September. "[But] I'm not looking to get married now."

Following past trips to Ghana and Chile as an ambassador for UNICEF, Selena Gomez is now planning an even more dangerous trek, telling E! News last Friday night:

"In April, we're going to go somewhere a little harder, the Congo... I was talking to Joel Madden and he works with UNICEF and he went... and he said it was the most intense thing he had ever done in his entire life - and the best thing he had ever done."

Gomez has served as a UNICEF ambassador for approximately two years, raising over $200,000 for the cause last week during an event at The House of Blues.

"We're helping to save the lives of children all over the world," Selena wrote on her Facebook page.

As Selena Gomez maps out her post-"Wizards of Waverly Place" career, her projects continue to be more and more diverse.

Gomez is attached to produce and most likely star in the big-screen adaptation of the Jandy Nelson novel "The Sky is Everywhere." Gomez will not only play the part of producer but could potentially land the novel's lead role of Lennie Walker, Deadline reports.

Lennie is a 17-year-old nerd-type who loses her older, outgoing sister, Bailey. After Bailey dies, Lennie must step out of her sister's shadow when she falls for two guys (one of whom was Bailey's boyfriend). No word on who is attached to star in the other key parts of the movie. Before she hits the set for "The Sky is Everywhere," Gomez already has some other films lined up. The actress/singer will shoot the darker "Spring Breakers" early this year and has been rumored to be attached to a film called "Hot Mess."

When Gomez spoke to MTV News late last year, she shared that she didn't have any big expectations going into 2012. It seems that game plan is working for her. "I feel like this approach of this year, I wasn't expecting any of the things that happened," she said. "And so I just kind of want to go into the end of this year and the beginning of next year just excited and in a good place and not planning anything."

Pop singer Selena Gomez, accompanied by boyfriend Justin Bieber and football star David Beckham, raised $200,000 with a charity concert for Unicef.

The 19-year-old teenage star joined forces with the United Nations children's Fund (Unicef) in 2008, speaking out on issues such as children's rights, and she became an official representative of the charitable cause the following year.

Gomez and her band The Scene performed for the organisation last year, and they took to the stage again to raise more cash for the fund, reporeted Femalefirst online.

Bieber was on hand to offer his partner moral support, while soccer ace Beckham took his sons to the gig.

Gomez later took to her Facebook to thank her fans for their support.

"Thank You to all who came out to the show last night at House of Blues on Sunset. That is one of the shows I look forward to the most and cannot wait for next year's show. I don't have an exact number but together we all raised over 200,000 dollars to benefit Unicef," she posted.

"We're helping to save the lives of children all over the world," she added.
